Start of Rotary project “Education for Africa”. Special series of a limited-edition HIFFICIENCY® pan with €25 donation per pan. Including grants from various Rotary funds, this enabled more than €125,000 to be donated to education projects in Africa. With Rotary, not only does every euro donated reach the recipient – it is quintupled (in this case)!
Completion of the new plant building opposite the old factory and move-in. The system technology is also completely new. The old production system will be retained in its old location for the moment, until series production on the new line is fully up and running.
Takeover of all coating activities of STE Dichtungstechnik, including patents, staff and machinery.

Market launch of DURAPEK® as pan coating for WMF as multislide® NANODUR® .
Registration of the first patents for PEEK/PEK coatings, later granted.
No coating was able to cope with the tough demands of this field of use – temperature resistance up to 300°C under stress and (micro)movement without lubrication, plus resistance to hot water (up to 125°C) and oil (up to 150°C), as well as attack from hot and acidic combustion gases.
Dr C. Stecher hit on the idea of using polyaryletherketones (PEEK, PEK, …) for coatings. Development of what would become multislide® DURAPEK® coatings began. And the monomet seal finally worked!
Foundation of the STE Gesellschaft für Dichtungstechnik (Society for Sealing Technology).
Back then, STE developed and later produced single-layer cylinder head seals under the monomet brand.
